JOSEPH ORVILLE ELWYN MCFEETORS
Born April 14, 1935, to Orville & Mary McFeetors of Rossburn. Elwyn grew up on the family farm, the original JJ Stitt homestead. He attended Perth, a one-room school, and then Rossburn High School before graduating from the Agriculture Diploma program at the University of Manitoba in 1955. He returned to farming until 1971 when the family moved to Brandon where he was employed by Rural Water Services for 25 years.
Elwyn married Janice Johnston in 1963, and together they raised four children: Crystal (Gennaro) Magistrale of Tsawwassen, Coreen Kat of Calgary, Sherry (Cornell) Ruddock of Winnipeg, and Greg (Alecia) McFeetors of Calgary.
In his younger years, Elwyn enjoyed curling and playing baseball in Rossburn. One of his proudest accomplishments was building the family cottage at Clear Lake, where many happy summers were spent. In retirement, Elwyn and Janice spent their winters in Arizona before eventually settling into condo living in Calgary. Always adventurous, Elwyn biked down Mt Haleakala in Maui in 1999, confidently drove a truck towing a fifth wheel multiple times through the U.S. and Canada, and explored many countries and continents with Janice.
Elwyn leaves to mourn his beloved wife, Janice; his four children and their spouses; and his cherished grandchildren: Alisha, Aidan (Robin), Aadam, Jafar, Liam (Kiara), Ethan, Lina, Jackson, Owen, and Dylan. He is also survived by his sister Merle and brother Delmer (Shirley). He was predeceased by his sisters Florence, Vernice, and Ann.
Elwyn leaves behind warm memories of his enduring kindness, quick wit, and teasing nature. He was the bedrock of our family.
Donations in memory of Elwyn may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
A funeral service will be held at a later date. Interment will take place at Rossburn Municipal Cemetery.
